How to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

Big, pretty eyes are a very desirable asset to have. But not everyone was born with a big set of peepers, so there are plenty of cosmetic and makeup tricks you can use to help make your eyes not only look bigger, but also to make them “pop” out and look alluring, sexy and beautiful.

Some of these tricks also work if you have eyes that are close together and you want to give the illusion of them being further apart. Just like people who don’t like the size or shape of their nose can make it looks smaller using makeup tricks, peopel who don’t like their eyes can play tricks on the eye as well with the way they apply their makeup, and what kind of makeup they use.

One of the best cosmetics to have in your collection to help shade and shadow parts of your face that you want to either make look larger or smaller is a white highlighter.  This can be a pencil if being used for your eyes, or it can even be a foundation – a very light one, to camouflage around the corners of the nose to make it look smallers for example.

But let’s stick to the eyes since that’s what we were talking about here.  What you want is a simple white eyeliner stick. This can be purchased very cheaply, however you may have a hard time finding it at the typical places you shop for makeup, like a drugstore or large department store.

I have one and it’s lasted me forever, so it’s not a major investment.  What you want to do with the white liner is to line the very inside of the eyelids – but just the bottom ones.  You can leave the top alone. Then, on the inside corner of the eye, on the skin part, you are going to want to dust some white eyeshadow, either cream or powder, so that you have a little circle of pearlescent white there.

This creates the illusion of a larger eye by drawing the attention out and over, making it look wider.  Avoid putting mascara on the bottom lashes, as this closes in the eyes. You want to only apply mascara to your top lashes, and really focuse on the outer lashes so you draw the eye out even more on the sides of the face. This is a great way to create drama and the look of bigger eyes.  ELF cosmetics has a great eyeshadow selection at cheap prices.

Also, you can buy some false eyelashes and place a few long ones on the very edge of the eyes, which adds to the illusion as well.
